Shireen Abu Akleh
Imrul Kayes
How can we forget you, Shireen?
You were an Arabian harbinger.
You were an Arabian harbinger.
A true voice of humanity, a clear protest
from Jenin.
How can a bullet do remove your name from our minds;
From the history of humanistic journalism?
When you present the untold miseries of Palestine?
Your body was wrapped in the Palestine flag.
Your coffin was cladded in red
Thousands of Palestinians mourned for you with wet eyes.
Their outrages, cries and prayers made the procession dignified.
Your heroism made the world speechless;
Wafting like a snowy steam along the pale palm trees.
Your mighty pen and sharp lens
Told the untold story of Gaza, Jenin and Jerusalem
Was that the only fault you commit?
How unjust you received for your land and your profession?
Your sacrifice will tell the tale of Palestine.
Wake up, wake up the sleepy Arabians
Wake up to lay down the lives for homeland
And to get the right of your land.
She should be the last to pay.
Shireen Abu Akleh must be remembered
By the uncounted sorrowful faces now and the generation upcoming.
Shireen, you will live in our heart eternally.
